How to set reminders in Telegram, for you and your group

Telegram has no full reminder app inside it, but a bot can do the job in the chat where you already talk. You tell the bot what to remember and when. At that time it posts the message back to you, or to your whole group.

This guide uses Nudge for reminders, plus four other bots for group dates. All of them are made by the maker of this site. At the end you will also see Telegram’s own scheduled messages, which need no bot.

Set your time zone first

Nudge reads every time you type as UTC until you set your offset with /tz, for example /tz +2 for UTC+2. Skip this step and your reminders arrive at the wrong hour. The offset is fixed, so update it when your country moves to or from summer time.

1. Open Nudge in a private chat. Press Start. A bot cannot message you until you do.
2. Send /tz with your offset. For example, /tz +2 for UTC+2.
3. Check it after a clock change. /tz takes an offset, so update it when your country moves to or from summer time.

How to set a reminder in Telegram with Nudge

To set a reminder in Telegram, open Nudge and send /remind, then the time, then the text. Nudge accepts relative times like in 2h, clock times, weekdays, full dates and, with Pro, daily repeats. A background check runs every minute and delivers the reminder on time. For example:

/remind tomorrow 9am call the dentist

Tip: You can also use Nudge inline. Type @NudgeRemindBot tomorrow 9am call the dentist in any chat. It shows the reminder it would set, and you tap once to confirm.

How to list, snooze and delete reminders

Nudge manages reminders with two commands and one button. /list shows every upcoming reminder with its ID, /del with an ID deletes one, for example /del 4, and the Snooze button on a fired reminder brings it back later. Nudge has no edit command, so delete and recreate a reminder to change it.

1. List your reminders. Send /list to see what is coming and the ID of each one.
2. Delete one. Send /del with the ID, for example /del 4.
3. Snooze one. When a reminder fires, it carries a Snooze button with a few preset delays. Tap one and the same reminder comes back later.

Can a Telegram bot remind a whole group?

Yes: Nudge delivers each reminder to the chat where you created it. Run /remind in a group and the reminder posts in that group for everyone. Run it in your private chat with the bot and only you see it. Pro is per user, so it follows you, not the group.

• In a group: run /remind in the group, and the reminder posts in that group. Use this for shared jobs, like “in 2h order the pizza”.
• In your private chat: run /remind in your chat with the bot, and only you see it.

Is Nudge free? Free vs Pro

Nudge is free for 5 active reminders at a time. Pro is per user: 150 Stars (about $3) once, or 100 Stars (about $2) a month as a subscription. Both add unlimited active reminders and daily repeats. Send /pro in a private chat with the bot.

Telegram bots for birthdays, events and time zones

Four more bots from the same maker handle group dates. When Is It shows one time in every member’s zone, Birthday Reminder posts a greeting on each saved birthday, Event RSVP collects Going, Maybe and Can’t answers, and Countdown Days counts down to a date. Each one has a free plan.

When Is It fixes the time-zone problem in mixed groups. Each member saves a zone once, for example /tz Europe/Warsaw. Then /when 3pm tomorrow shows that time for every zone in the group, plus UTC, up to 12 zones. Daylight saving is handled for you. Free: 3 saved preset zones. Pro: 150 Stars per user adds unlimited presets and /team zone sets.

Birthday Reminder lets each member save a birthday with /bday 14-03. An admin sets the group offset with /gtz +2. At 09:00 group time on the day, the bot posts a greeting. /upcoming lists the next birthdays. Free: up to 25 birthdays per group. Pro: 150 Stars per group adds a private heads-up to every other member the day before, and your own greeting.

Event RSVP posts an event card with Going, Maybe and Can’t buttons. Send /event fri 19:00 Board game night. Free: 3 active events per group. Pro: 150 Stars per group adds unlimited events and an automatic reminder 1 hour before each event.

Countdown Days posts one message that counts down to a date and edits itself as the days change. Send /countdown 2026-12-25 Christmas. Free: 2 active countdowns per group. Pro is a one-time group payment of 75 or 150 Stars. The group’s Pro screen shows the current offer.

Can Telegram set reminders without a bot?

Yes: Telegram’s scheduled messages can act as a reminder with no bot. Hold the Send button in Saved Messages, choose to schedule the message, and pick a date and time. When it is sent, Telegram shows a notification marked with a calendar icon. Menu names differ between apps and versions.

Scheduling works in any chat, not only Saved Messages. If you do not see the option, update Telegram and hold the Send button again.

Use scheduled messages for one-off personal notes. Use a bot when you want snooze, a list of reminders, reminders for a group, or birthdays and events.

Common problems with Telegram reminders

If a Nudge reminder arrives at the wrong hour, your UTC offset is not set or is out of date. Send /tz with your offset, for example /tz +2, then delete the wrong reminder with /del and create it again. Daily repeats and more than 5 active reminders need Pro.

• The reminder came at the wrong hour. Set /tz, then delete and recreate the reminder.
• The bot did not answer in the group. Check that the bot is a member of the group, and that you sent the command to the right bot.
• “every day” did not work. Daily repeats need Pro.
• You hit the limit. Free allows 5 active reminders. Delete old ones with /del.
